Since they first launched a year ago, Amiibo have proven to be one of Nintendo’s most successful financial aces in the hole, having sold in spades worldwide – 14.7 million figures were sold by the end of July. Earlier on, the late Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata showed his hand when he revealed that Amiibo would launch in the form of cards later this year. True to his word, the first wave of Amiibo cards have indeed launched alongside the release of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, and it is likely that more will follow suit. In this case, however, one fan has decided to take the initiative and is now laying his own self-designed Amiibo cards on the table.

Card puns aside, Koki is a France-based artist who runs an Etsy shop called NBros and dabbles in crafting Super Smash Bros. and Amiibo-themed merchandise, including Trophy Boxes, stage-themed display stands, and Disney Infinity-like packaging. A new product has since premiered on his store to celebrate the newest Animal Crossing installment: Koki’s own custom (and functional, if you so choose) Smash Bros. Amiibo cards!

Koki has paid great attention to detail by keeping the dimensions identical to Nintendo’s official Amiibo cards, and by deciding the birthday of each Super Smash Bros. fighter by the initial release date of their first games. Should you prefer, you can buy the cards with their original Amiibo NFC chip included inside, or you could go for a cheaper price point if you prefer aesthetics over functionality by foregoing the NFC chip altogether.

So far, only Mario, Link from The Legend of Zelda, and Samus from Metroid have received the Animal Crossing Amiibo card treatment and are available for purchase.

If these or any of Koki’s other wares interest you, then check out NBros on Etsy today!
