The first Metal Gear Solid game debuted on PlayStation, and it was later remade with improved visuals for GameCube as Twin Snakes. It’s been over a decade since Twin Snakes launched, and the technology available in the video game industry has grown by leaps and bounds since then. As such, a group of dedicated fans have been hard at work on remaking the game in Unreal Engine 4 under the title Shadow Moses.
Shadow Moses Facebook page previously indicated that a huge announcement was coming on March 14th, but plans have changed. The team announced yesterday that Shadow Moses has been cancelled “for reasons beyond our control..” Although they stopped short of invoking Konami’s name, it seems likely that the Metal Gear publisher pulled the plug. Lead developer Airam Hernandez has said in the past that he knew he’d need to get Konami’s blessing at some point, and it looks like that’s not going to happen.
