Mario Paint has been used by fans to create a number of impressive projects over the years, but this one may be one of the coolest and most massive undertakings so far. An avid Mario Painter as well as a fan of the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon, Mike Matei sat down and decided to recreate the show’s entire minute-long intro frame-by-frame in the SNES title. According to Matei, each frame required thirty minutes to an hour to recreate, and the entire project took about six months.
Fortunately, that work is done now, and he’s compiled all these frames into a video format complete with a cover of the original title song by James Ronald. You can check above to see the amazing result in its entirety, and if you need to get some idea of just how much effort this took, Matei also uploaded a 47 minute video that shows the full process for just one of these frames.
As someone who grew up on the reruns of this show, this is an awesome blast to the past for me, and I’d love to see him remake more cartoon openings (which he seems open to doing!). Which shows would you like to see recreated like this? Give us your thoughts in the comments!
