The making of custom Mario levels has never been limited to just Super Mario Maker. Custom levels have been around since the dawn of ROM hacking with games like Kaizo Mario. More recently, fans have been making custom galaxies for Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 using homebrew Wii programs. One such fan named MeTheMarioMan has used one of these programs to recreate the iconic Bob-Omb Battlefield from Super Mario 64 earlier this year. The homemade level manages to pretty accurately represent the classic world with only the limited assets of Super Mario Galaxy 2. One notable exception is the absence of a traditional Chain Chomp, which, while featured prominently in Bob-Omb Battlefield, did not appear in Super Mario Galaxy 2. Those interested in exploring the level themselves can find some basic instructions on how to do so in the video description.
