Earlier this year, Konami revealed that their much-anticipated Silent Hills game had been canceled. Many fans were salivating at the idea of a Kojima and Del Toro collaboration and were disappointed when Konami revealed the bad news. If that wasn’t bad enough, a recent tweet from Guillermo Del Toro revealed that horror manga artist Junji Ito was also involved with Silent Hills.
Some of Junji Ito’s works include Gyo, a story about a young couple that’s being terrorized by walking fish with their “death stench,” and Uzumaki, a story about a city cursed by supernatural events involving spirals. Judging from Ito’s past work, Silent Hills could have been one of the scariest games ever created. Hopefully, Konami will reconcile with Kojima so they can resurrect the project that so many of us wanted.
