The beloved Pokémon franchise is over 20 years old now, and it will be taking its next steps forward with the launch of Pokémon Sun and Moon on November 18th. The Pokémon Company recently promised that we’d be receiving more Pokémon news on June 2nd, and that day has arrived. A new trailer has just been released that shows off the new Legendary Pokémon, the Alola Region, a new type of Pokédex, some of the characters you’ll be meeting, and more.
As indicated by some
recently-discovered trademarks, the two Legendary Pokémon are Solgaleo and Lunala. Solgaleo is a Psychic/Steel Type with a special ability called Full Metal Body that prevents its stats from being lowered. It also has an attack called Sunsteel Strike, which charges at an opponent with the force of a meteor, disregarding the target’s Ability. Lunala is a Psychic/Ghost type with the ability Shadow Shield, which reduces damage dealt out when the Pokémon has full health. It also has an attack called Moongeist Beam, which releases an ominous beam of light that disregards the target’s Ability.
The new trailer also revealed that you’ll be using a new and improved Pokédex in the Alola region. Professor Kukui gifts the player with a Rotom, and that Rotom inhabits your Pokédex to turn it into the Rotom Pokédex. The Rotom Pokédex (which is said to sparkle with personality), shows your current location and your next destination, and it also gives you advice on where to go next, based on the conversations you have with others.
The new trailer also shows off some gameplay, introduces new characters, and gives us a good look at the Alola region. As previously speculated, there will be multiple islands for players to explore. In total, there will be ”
four islands rich in natural beauty and an artificial island.” Many Pokémon that have never been seen before occupy these islands. You can check out the trailer by clicking above!
