Back in June, Activision announced a brand new Skylanders game that would allow fans to create their own characters. Starting on October 16th, when Skylanders Imaginators launches in North America, the company will allow you to pay $50 to have your own creations 3D-printed by Shapeways, a company that specializes in 3D printing. On top of this, you can get your Skylander printed on a t-shirt for $25 or on a card for $15.

Players can create their characters with the Skylanders Creator mobile app, which will be available the day Skylanders Imaginators comes out. Paul Reiche, the CEO of Toys for Bob, said that it’s very hard to translate the artwork into a three-dimensional figure. While the 3D-printed toys won’t be as detailed as other Skylanders, they still have a decent amount of quality. Each character will be put on a stand and encased in a plastic dome.

What do you guys think about the creation tool? Would you like to see your own characters printed as a figure? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

Writing is half of my life. Video games make up the other half. I decided to put these two hobbies together and join Gamnesia back in 2015. I spend most of my time working at a retail store and paying off my student debt. When I'm not getting stressed about the thousands of dollars I owe my loan providers, I play tons of video games (which just puts me into more debt). I'm also currently writing a novel in what little spare time I have. It's a story I've been wanting to write for a while, but I don't want to talk about it until I have most of it completed. Any Gamnesia-related inquiries may be sent to [email protected] Feel free to follow my personal Twitter if you want (@Pindlo). I mostly just retweet things.
