Activision Will Not Help Nintendo With Amiibo Manufacturing

With the recently announced Skylanders: SuperChargers game coming to stores in September, Activision reached out to Nintendo in order to develop something special for Wii U owners. While Skylanders already maintains their own unique characters in the game’s virtual worlds, Activision wanted to merge Nintendo’s well known IP into the mix as well. As such, Activision will feature Donkey Kong and Bowser Skylanders for the Nintendo versions of Skylanders SuperChargers, both containing Amiibo compatibility. However, this does not mean that Activision is open to teaming up with Nintendo for all Amiibo manufacture.

While Nintendo struggles with Amiibo production, Activision seems to want to stay out of the mix. When asked if they were open to helping Nintendo with producing Amiibo figurines after the announced Bowser and Donkey Kong
Skylanders, all that they offered up as response was a rigid “no.” It looks like Nintendo will have to develop other plans to solve their Amiibo muddle.

Skylanders: SuperChargers will release for Wii, Wii U, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, iPad, and 3DS on September 30th.
