In a Miiverse post, Nintendo’s Aya Kyogoku has confirmed the end of the Animal Crossing Plaza service. All online features, including monthly themed surveys and the ability to post to the Animal Crossing Series Community, will be disabled as of January 1st. However, other features will still be active. For those who have yet to enjoy the free software, it will remain on eShop until December 22nd. Kyogoku explains what will still function in Animal Crossing Plaza:

“Even though you won’t be able to post to the community anymore, you will still be able to visit all your favourite characters in the plaza after the service finishes, as long as you have already downloaded Animal Crossing Plaza.” — Aya Kyogoku

While we can probably assume this will effect all regions, it’s important to note Myogoku’s post was on the Europe and Oceania community for
Animal Crossing news.
