Earlier this morning, Nintendo announced a new Animal Crossing app for mobile platforms at its investor’s meeting. In a press release sent out shortly after, they expanded on the announcement with a few key details, such as its focus on gameplay and a release date in the fall. However, one mysterious detail stood out: the app is being designed in such a way that it can be “connected with the world of Animal Crossing for dedicated gaming systems.”
As of right now, this feature sounds pretty vague. Which games will it connect to? What will the app do with these games? There are a lot of questions that Nintendo promises to answer in the coming months. Animal Crossing itself is often considered one of Nintendo’s most endearing franchises, partly due to its ability to bring players together in creative ways that don’t necessarily involve a dedicated multiplayer mode. The way the press release makes it sound, it seems possible that this will be yet another way for players to interact with one another’s world in the expansive life simulator.
Are you excited for this or the Fire Emblem app? How do you think the app should interact with the other games? Let us know in the comments below!
