Eiji Aonuma has been hard at work to shake up the conventions of The Legend of Zelda series over the past few years. The most significant changes can be seen in the newest entry in the series, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. While this game is solely a single-player experience, Aonuma wants to further explore what could be done with the series, and he would love to bring elements from Breath of the Wild into a new multiplayer Zelda title.

Aonuma expressed that it was a definite possibility and that the developers will continue to experiment with the Zelda franchise:

“I would like to take what I learned from Breath of the Wild and see if we can somehow fuse those learning points into another multiplayer Zelda. For example, with Triforce Heroes, which followed a similar format of Four Swords, there was a multiplayer involved in that game. That’s definitely a possibility and we will continue to [experiment] throughout the Zelda franchise.” — Eiji Aonuma

What do you guys think? Would you like to see a multiplayer Zelda title with some of these new gameplay elements mixed in there? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

Writing is half of my life. Video games make up the other half. I decided to put these two hobbies together and join Gamnesia back in 2015. I spend most of my time working at a retail store and paying off my student debt. When I'm not getting stressed about the thousands of dollars I owe my loan providers, I play tons of video games (which just puts me into more debt). I'm also currently writing a novel in what little spare time I have. It's a story I've been wanting to write for a while, but I don't want to talk about it until I have most of it completed. Any Gamnesia-related inquiries may be sent to [email protected] Feel free to follow my personal Twitter if you want (@Pindlo). I mostly just retweet things.
