With 25 years full of ups and downs and all-arounds behind him, Sonic the Hedgehog still keeps on running to this day, and SEGA is poised to celebrate the Blue Blur’s silver anniversary all year long.

Among the news of
special events and new games comes a surprise announcement from North American comic book publisher Archie Comics, the same one responsible for the ongoing Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic Universe comics. The publisher is confirmed to be participating in the festivities with a brand new comic that harkens back to the franchise’s Genesis days of yore.

After the fall of the Death Egg, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose must band together to stop Dr. Eggman once again before he completes his engine of mass destruction — the MEGADRIVE — in the appropriately titled
Sonic: Mega Drive!

The publisher’s official solicitation for the comic is as follows:
