My Predictions for Smash Bros. Wii U & 3DS

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS is obviously one of the most anticipated Nintendo titles, and, like with every new entry in the saga, speculating about who the new fighters are going to be is one of the favorite pastimes of the fans. I am no exception, so today I will dedicate an article on the characters I think are more likely to appear in this new entry and why I know they are going to make it. Read the whole piece to see if your favorite character made it!

This is a no-brainer. The main character from Golden Sun has always been one of the most popular characters among players, as has been proven in many polls. He starred in two really popular RPGs and appeared shortly in a third game, and all of these were memorable enough to ensure him a position in the roster—especially given how he made it in Brawl as an assistant trophy and even got a track of his own!

It’s no secret that this new entry is trying to have more women than previous ones, as is evidenced by the inclusion of Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina, and Mega Man. It is also no secret that Fire Emblem: Awakening has probably been the most successful game in its franchise, and is one of the most popular on the 3DS. Sure, it will be weird to have three blue-haired people from the same saga fighting each other—but maybe they will find some way to make that funny and cool!

Dixie Kong

The Donkey Kong games are more popular than ever, even more so now that Tropical Freeze has been released. The fact that she’s female, added to the recent inclusion today of King K. Rool in Smash Bros., makes it extremely likely that she will join in the fray.

He has always been the most polemical character to be defended by the fans every time a new Smash Bros. game has been announced, but I think Sakurai will finally heed their petitions once and for all and give them what they have wanted for so long—although the fact that there are already five Super Mario reps certainly lowers his chances. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Little Mac

I certainly can’t see why he has not been added yet. He is as much of a classic as Kid Icarus, and he got the remake treatment much earlier—for the Wii, in fact. His fighting style certainly suits that of Smash Bros., given how he is a boxer, so getting a moveset for him shouldn’t be too much of a problem. And who wouldn’t love to listen to the classic “Tyson stole my bike” tune on this game?

I know, I know, most people take this idea as a joke, but let’s not forget that Reggie said his body would be ready for the game, and that Sakurai said he would consider it given enough support—and he’s getting it, as this online petition shows. And hey, after the inclusion of Mr. Game & Watch and R.O.B, I can see this happening!

Sakurai and the development team of Smash Bros. were so tired of listening to the fans saying he was too big to participate that they had Nintendo release The Legend of Ridley: Minish Cap. Their only fear now is that the fans will complain about him being too small now!

His recent appearance on such acclaimed Nintendo games as Street Fighter X Tekken has certainly entitled him to appear on the next Smash Bros., especially now that Mega Man has made it—if she can appear on it, what is keeping our favorite yellow pill-eater, ghost-devourer from doing so as well?

Before anyone starts saying this is highly unlikely, let’s remember how many Dragon Ball games there have been in Nintendo consoles, from the classic Dragon Ball: Shenlong no Nazo to the much beloved Dragon Ball Z: Harukanaru Densetsu. His popularity certainly isn’t waning any time soon, so he might just make it to the brawl!

Sakurai has certainly been dragging this for too long. Who wouldn’t love to see the main character of such classic games as Super Miguel Bros., Super Miguel World, Super Miguel Land, Super Miguel 64, The Legend of Miguel, and Super Miguel Galaxy make an appearance on Smash Bros.? Thankfully, Sakurai is finally paying a little attention to the classics of the NES era, which is why we got Mega Man, Little Mac, and Pit as newcomers for this entry—and given the enormous success of the recent Bravely Miguel, there’s no doubt he will finally get his well-deserved spot amongst his brethren.

King Harkinian III

And while we are getting retro, why not celebrate the best character from the most beloved games in The Legend of Zelda saga? Apparently Sakurai didn’t include him earlier because he was still struggling with Philips for the copyright, but now that they have come to an understanding, it’s pretty safe to assume he will make the cut. My boy, this character is what all true gamers strive for!

Cloud Strife

Sure, he might be an unlikely addition, but think about this: Final Fantasy VII was at first only available for the PlayStation, then for the PS Store—that means, for the PS3 and the Vita—, and now it’s even on Steam. Given enough time, this game will be released on a Nintendo console, and then we will all see our dream of seeing Cloud in Smash Bros. come true!

Tarja Turunen

Out of the three characters shown in the trailer for the upcoming Nintendo Metal Festival, she is, by far, the most appealing character. And we all know what her final smash would be, don’t we? Fun times!

The Legend of Zelda could do with a fifth rep, and he‘s as nice a guy as any.

I don’t know what’s wrong with Nintendo. Seriously, this guy’s pretty important. Like, pretty important. When are you going to give us Pit?

Rainbow Dash

It is pretty clear that Nintendo has recently released My Little Pony: 3DS Is Magic only for the sake of including this lovely little character into the roster of Smash Bros. Watch out for her final smash, where she transforms into Azathoth, the Nuclear Chaos, and then devour the souls of her enemies!

Jack the Ripper

Smash Bros. really could do with some more realistic villains.

So how awesome is it that I got it completely right? Are you thrilled by the discovery of the future roster of
Smash Bros.? Who else do you—wrongly—think will make the cut as well? Please let us know in the comments!
