Today is the day I’ve been waiting for all year—the day Persona 5 finally releases in the West! This is no doubt one of the biggest releases this year, and many people are eager to jump right into it. This means that Let’s Plays and streams galore are bound to be posted in the near future. Unfortunately for these content creators, Atlus has posted a set of guidelines for showing off the game’s content, along with the threat of having this content taken down if these guidelines are broken.

In a note to streamers posted earlier today, Atlus said that due to the nature of Persona 5‘s singular story playthrough, streamers need to be careful not to show off any major story spoilers. Videos that feature broader, more general content, such as dungeons or combat, are okay, but things like showing most of the bosses and major character development scenes are off the table. Videos also need to be limited to 90 minutes each and should “feature dungeon crawling/spending time in Tokyo.”

All content sharing must be done through external means as well, as Atlus has completely disabled the PlayStation 4’s native sharing features. This includes the capture of screenshots and video alike. Atlus also warns that no content after the in-game July 7th should be shown by anyone. Doing so runs the risk of being issued a content ID claim or worse yet, a channel suspension.

You can find Atlus’ full message to streamers in the source below. What do you make of Atlus’ decision to limit sharing of Persona 5? Do you think they’ve overstepped any boundaries in threatening users with channel takedowns if they break these policies? Let us know what you think below!
