BioWare is currently hard at work on Anthem, an online, multiplayer action-RPG that they code-named “Dylan” because they envisioned it being as impactful as Bob Dylan. With such a massively ambitious undertaking in the works, BioWare has talked about little else besides Anthem in recent months, but that doesn’t mean it’s the only thing they’re developing.
In a recent blog post titled “Mid-Summer Update,” BioWare General Manager Casey Hudson recapped some of the events of the Summer, including BioWare appearances at EA Play, E3, and San Diego Comic-Con. The really interesting part of the post comes near the end, where Hudson hints at future projects in established franchises.
“And yes – we hear loud and clear the interest in BioWare doing more Dragon Age and Mass Effect, so rest assured that we have some teams hidden away working on some secret stuff that I think you’ll really like – we’re just not ready to talk about any of it for a little while…” — Casey Hudson
With all of the focus on Anthem, I wouldn’t expect any announcements in the near future, but it’s great to know these franchises haven’t been left behind. This is especially true for Mass Effect, as the lukewarm reception to Andromeda put the future of the franchise in question.
