Castlevania spiritual successor Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night recently hit its Wii U stretch goal. This means Armature Studio (a team formed by ex-Retro Studios members) will be porting the game to Wii U. Bloodstained runs on Unreal Engine 4, an engine that has thus far not been supported on Wii U. When asked about Unreal Engine 4 on Wii U in the past, Epic co-founder Mark Rein first laughed at the idea and shot it down, but later clarified that developers could try to scale the engine down for Wii U if they wanted.
Armature was asked
on Twitter if they intended to port Bloodstained to Wii U using Unreal Engine 4, and they replied “That’s the plan.” Unreal Engine 4 is designed for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, but both the Vita and Wii U versions are planned to utilize the engine as well. Hopefully it’s a good fit!
