Koji Igarashi’s Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night had one of the most successful Kickstarter campaigns of all time, and after numerous delays, it’s finally coming out this Summer… barring any further setbacks. Unfortunately, it looks like the Switch version is far from finished. It was on display at PAX East last week, and many players complained of input lag and a choppy frame rate.
US Gamer’s Nadia Oxford was one of those dissatisfied attendees at PAX, and she brought those concerns up during a meeting with publisher 505 Games at the convention. According to a representative for the company, 505 is well aware of the issues plaguing the Switch version, and they won’t persist into the finished product.
The PAX build is apparently far from finished, and developers are working behind the scenes to optimize the Switch port to get it more in line with the much more thoroughly optimized PC version ahead of release. Hopefully, that promise comes to fruition, because it would be a shame if the game launched after so many years and Switch players got a version with mediocre performance.
