Resident Evil is a pioneer of survival-horror gameplay and one of the most popular franchises of that genre around. Capcom has cause for celebration today, as March 22, 2016 is the 20th anniversary of this iconic series. Capcom decided to mark the occasion by releasing a developer interview video starring producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi.
Kobayashi has been around since the early days, serving as a programmer on the first two
Resident Evil games before moving on to a producer role for later games like Code Veronica, Zero, and Resident Evil 6. In the video, Kobayashi talks about balancing horror (which he personally isn’t fond of) and entertainment, emulating elements of horror movies, dreaming big when it comes to graphics, the way Resident Evil 4 changed everything, and more, ending with a special message to fans.
