Popular Japanese publisher Capcom has released its financial results from the past fiscal year (April 1st, 2015 – March 31st, 2016), and profits are on the rise. Capcom reported an operating income of ¥12,029 million (around $111 million) for the year, up from ¥10,582 million the year before. Net sales were also up from last year’s ¥64,277 million to ¥77,021 million.
Street Fighter V greatly undersold expectations, Capcom was able to boost their numbers partially due to stronger than expected sales from Monster Hunter X, known in the West as Monster Hunter Generations. The 3DS exclusive was expected to sell 2.5 million copies in the fiscal year, but it actually sold over 3 million, and that’s in Japan alone.
