20 years ago, the scope of the gaming industry changed when Nintendo released a 64-bit console that stood well apart from the SEGA Saturn and the Sony PlayStation in its time. The appropriately named Nintendo 64 was home to some wonderful memories stemming from revolutionary classics like Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and GoldenEye 007, and it easily became the objectively best Christmas present.

To celebrate this milestone year, a group of ten synthwave artists banded together and honored the Nintendo 64’s legacy by releasing a free-to-download music album on Bandcamp. The aptly titled
Nintendo 64 20th Anniversary – Unofficial Compilation goes so far as to pay tribute to hidden gems on the system like San Francisco Rush 2049 and Tetrisphere, as well as several Rare classics.

Listen to the album in full above, and if you liked what you heard, be sure to download it as well!

Jeffrey is a writer for Gamnesia and The Sonic Stadium, and a pianist obsessed with video game music. Loves all things Nintendo to a fault, and enjoys long walks on the Green Hill Zone. Pretty much Gamnesia's resident Sonic fan, my dude.
