On the heels of Thursday’s Nintendo Direct, a Star Fox Zero trailer was released which shows off its Amiibo-unlocked SNES Arwings and land-based Walkers blasting their way through Corneria. Many fans will remember Corneria as the opening stage in the old Star Fox games, where you met your anthropomorphic co-pilots and learned how to do a barrel roll for the first time.

The video begins with a retro Arwing shooting down familiar enemies and launching a smart bomb, but then the ship drops and seamlessly transforms into a Walker. The Walker appeared in the cancelled Star Fox 2, and its appearance should bring an interesting angle to a classic stage with its ability to run and jump.

Star Fox Zero is scheduled for launch on April 22nd.

Sometime in the late 80's, I received my very first NES, along with a copy of Super Mario Bros., Castlevania, and Dragon Warrior. I descended into my parents' basement, vowing never to come out until I'd finished them all. Finishing those off, I installed a series of pneumatic tubes so that the latest releases (and food) could be delivered to me without having to pry my bloodshot eyes off the t.v. Next thing I know, I'm on Gamnesia. Whoa.
