Mario Tennis Aces is bringing a lot of new features to the popular sports party game. You can play as your favorite characters from the series, such as Rosalina, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Toad, Boo, Daisy, and much more. And this time, the gang has tons of new tennis moves up their sleeves.

You can perform a Basic Shot, Top spin, slice, or a lob. But the big feature Aces are the new Zone abilities. The Zone Shot lets you pinpoint a specific target using motion controls. If you’re hit by one, your racket will take damage. If your racket gets hit three times, the racket will break and you will immediately forfeit the match. But even though Zone Shots are super powerful, they can be blocked with perfect timing, allowing the match to continue with your racket unharmed.

Along with the Zone Shot, players can use Zone Speed, which slows down time, as well as other unannounced abilities. These abilities drain your energy gauge, which will fill up during gameplay, and will get a massive boost when you perform trick shots.

If all of this flashy tennis action is too much for you, the game does include a basic mode, which is simply tennis with Mario characters. The game will also feature motion controls, online tournaments, and special outfits.

To celebrate the game’s release on June 22nd, Nintendo will be hosting a pre-launch tournament for the game. More details will be revealed later on.

Writing is half of my life. Video games make up the other half. I decided to put these two hobbies together and join Gamnesia back in 2015. I spend most of my time working at a retail store and paying off my student debt. When I'm not getting stressed about the thousands of dollars I owe my loan providers, I play tons of video games (which just puts me into more debt). I'm also currently writing a novel in what little spare time I have. It's a story I've been wanting to write for a while, but I don't want to talk about it until I have most of it completed. Any Gamnesia-related inquiries may be sent to [email protected] Feel free to follow my personal Twitter if you want (@Pindlo). I mostly just retweet things.
