A few months back, Nintendo Treehouse employee Chris Pranger gave out a bunch of behind-the-scenes details about Nintendo, such as the tidbit that they often use their localization team as voice actors to cut costs. Unfortunately, his remarks quickly led to Nintendo letting him go. Now it looks like he’s lost his role in Star Fox Zero as well.
Pranger had originally voiced the first boss on Corneria for the new title, but it looks like Nintendo needed to record new lines for the character. According to a tweet from Pranger (which has since been deleted), after he left the Big N opted to just replace him rather than bring him back in to record the extra dialogue.
“Got confirmation today that my voice is no longer in Star Fox Zero since new lines needed to be recorded. Bummer, but that’s business.” — Chris Pranger
Voice actors have been
pushing hard to get more rights as of late, and I’ve no doubt someone will try to use this news to further support that cause. Was this Nintendo adding insult to injury, though, or was it just an inevitable event after Pranger’s departure? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
