Yesterday we reported on the tragic, yet touching, story of Chris Taylor. Chris had been battling cancer for years, and in July he was told that he had just months to live. Each new trailer for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been a blessing for most fans, but for Chris, they were constant reminders of a joy he believed he’d never get to experience.

In a beautiful turn of events, supporters rallied together and took to social media to spread his story, and Nintendo took notice. Just a few days ago they fulfilled his wish, bringing a demo copy of the game to his house to enjoy with friends and family. Nintendo’s kind act came just in time, as today it’s my sad duty to report that Chris Taylor has passed away.

His brother Zach confirmed his passing
via Reddit, noting that he passed in the comfort of his own home surrounded by those closest to him. Additionally, a friend of his named Tony shared some stories and warm sentiments about Chris on Twitter. We wish the best to his friends and family in this difficult time.
