Since departing Konami and losing the rights to the Metal Gear franchise, Hideo Kojima has been working on a new game called Death Stranding. Kojima has previously stated that the upcoming game (which stars Norman Reedus) will not be releasing anytime soon, but he recently clarified that timetable a little. Speaking with fans on Twitter, Kojima revealed that he has a targeted released date in mind, teasing that it would be sometime before the Tokyo Olympic Games. This places its release before July 24, 2020.
Kojima also revealed that Death Stranding‘s casting period is still underway and implied that the game’s characters are not finalized. Kojima asked fans “Will there be a heroine? Who should play her?” Finally, he also teased that there will be “a new form of co-op play,” but the game will be fully playable in single player.
