Prior to the launch of Wii U, EA and Nintendo declared that the two companies had an “unprecedented partnership,” but EA’s actual support of the console was weak at best, and virtually non-existent at times. Wii U is now on its last legs, and a new Nintendo consoled dubbed “NX” will be releasing next March. Will EA be more supportive of the next generation Nintendo device?
We’ve heard reports that
EA is seeking stronger support from Nintendo, especially in terms of catering to sports fans, but there has been no official word from either of the companies regarding EA games on NX. Speaking in an interview with the BBC, EA Executive Vice President Patrick Soderlund addressed the subject, stating that EA is in “constant communication” with Nintendo, and that their games will be on the console “if it makes sense.”
“I personally and the company are huge fans of Nintendo, they’re the reason why I started making games. We’re in constant communication with them and when they come to market something – and if it makes sense for us – we’ll be there.”
— Patrick Soderlund
It’s possible that EA is simply remaining tight-lipped until Nintendo more officially unveils the console, but it doesn’t sound like EA is currently developing NX titles.
