It’s been over a year since Nintendo revealed that they have new video game hardware in development, but they’ve been very tight-lipped about it since then. In the absence of official word on Nintendo’s upcoming “NX” hardware, rumors have been popping up from everywhere. Recently, NeoGAF user 10k posted a handful of rumors about the device. Most notably, the claim was made that NX’s controller would be able to stream games on the go via WiFi hot spots. Additionally, 10k claimed that NX would be substantially more powerful than PlayStation 4.
Since then, industry insider/leaker Emily Rogers has stepped in to comment on 10k’s claims. While some of the rumors were in line with things that Rogers has previously reported, she asserts that the claims of remote play, a Polaris-like GPU, and power levels dwarfing PlayStation 4 are all wrong. Rogers says her information is coming from “multiple sources close to Nintendo.” Hopefully Nintendo breaks the silence soon and gives us something real to be excited about.
