Nintendo struggled to attract third-party support during the Wii U days, but Switch has been graced with a number of impressive ports, including Skyrim and DOOM, with more on the way like Dark Souls Remastered and Wolfenstein 2. This trend looks to continue with support coming even from teams that have previously had little to do with Nintendo. According to the latest report from Eurogamer, we can expect Blizzard to join the party soon.
There have been rumblings of a
Diablo III Switch port for a while now, and Blizzard themselves stoked those fires when they tweeted out a gif of a Diablo-themed night light being switched off. Blizzard seemed to bury the issue almost immediately, providing the following statement to deny any current Switch plans: “We can assure you we’re not that clever. [It was] meant to be a fun community engagement piece. We have nothing to announce.”
However, that may not be the end of the story. If a new report from Eurogamer is to be believed, that teaser was exactly what it seemed like. According to their sources,
Diablo III is in development for Nintendo Switch right now. It’s unclear whether the port will include the base game only or come packaged with the Reaper of Souls and Rise of the Necromancer expansions. Either way, having it on the go would be a nice way to shake things up. Will you pick up Diablo III if it makes its way to Switch?
