Far Cry 5 has been announced before the E3 showcases. Boasting what looks like another memorable villain and more options to explore and customize the player experience, the title is set for release on February 27, 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC and looks exciting, to say the least.

This installment takes place in a rural area of the state of Montana that has been filled to the brim with doomsday cultists intent on saving people from the end, whether they accept the cult’s help “willingly or not.” It will be the player’s job as an incoming junior deputy police officer to help put out the uprising.

In a first for the series, players will be able to customize the race and gender of the protagonist. Players will be able to fight their way through the game’s story with a friend in co-op as well. Coupled with what Ubisoft calls the largest roster of weapons and vehicles ever in a Far Cry game, fans of the franchise should be hyped.

On top of the announcement trailer you can watch above, Ubisoft also released profile videos for some of the game’s main characters. If you are interested in preordering Far Cry 5 or learning more about its different editions, you can visit the official website for the game.

As someone who has not played a game in the series, this has me interested. What about you? Should they have waited until E3 to announce the game, or does it not matter? What do you think of the US setting and the storyline’s premise? Let us know in the comments below!

Hey all! I've been a gamer since I was three. I'm one of those people with gaming so ingrained in them that watching my father play Super Mario 64 is actually my first memory I can recall. I love writing too! I'm writing an original fantasy series that takes place in another universe; it may take some inspiration from some of my favorite franchises. I've been a journalist for a few years, have worked on local and national teams, and have garnered experience assigning stories, editing, writing, interviewing, hosting a television series, running a YouTube channel, and doing other stuff that's more fun to mention in conversation. Bios can drag on. Anyway, I'm super stoked to be a part of the Gamnesia team! Thanks for having me!
