It seems that a recently in entertainment, remakes and reboots are being produced more than new IP. Of course, this isn’t to say that we
aren’t getting any new game franchises, but resources are being diverted
in the AAA space to redecorating and re-releasing existing titles. However, one game that has yet to
get the HD treatments is the illustrious Final Fantasy VII. One
cannot say that it isn’t asked for; in all reality, it may be the most
demanded remake of all time. Square Enix has remarked in the past that
they won’t remake the title until they create a Final Fantasy game that “exceeds the quality” of Final Fantasy VII.
However, NeoGAF poster Verendus, who has had a history of legitimate leaks, says that this might all change. When Final Fantasy series producer Yoshinori Kitase said that a Final Fantasy VII remake wasn’t in production, Verendus had this to say:
“It’s happening. He’s obviously not going to give any indication as such
though so it hardly matters until they’re ready to announce something.
His comments make sense. It’s a huge project that will take a lot of
effort, and demand a lot from him personally, in order to ensure the end
result is something satisfactory.” – Verendus
