Back in April, Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy XV would only have a limited presence at E3, including a trailer, but that all big news about the game would have to wait until Gamescom. Today, the Japanese publisher announced that they’ve change their minds, and the trailer won’t be shown at E3. However, this is probably a good thing.
As it turns out, Square Enix’s original E3 plans for
Final Fantasy XV were very underwhelming. Director Hajime Tabata has revealed that they were planning to show all previously released footage remixed into a new trailer, essentially just serving as a way of hyping the game rather than actually showing or telling fans anything new at all. Understandably, the Western divisions of Square Enix were utterly opposed to this idea, and eventually the bosses back in Japan came to agree with them. Final Fantasy XV will have a trailer featuring new footage at Gamescom.
