Final Fantasy XV has been receiving additional content since it released back in 2016. This includes new story pieces for Gladiolus, Ignis, and Prompto; a brand new multiplayer mode called Comrades; a crossover event with the Assassin’s Creed franchise; and several new weapons and skins. If that wasn’t somehow enough content to satisfy you, Square Enix is creating even more DLC this year.
If you enjoyed the character customization in the
Comrades DLC, you’ll now be able to fully realize its potential when it becomes available in the main campaign. The custom avatar will replace Noctis in this journey, which I’m sure some players would have loved to do from the start. Other players’ ghost characters will appear throughout your journey. A new level editor and official mod support are also making their way to the PC version.
Additionally, players will soon be able to hide treasure chests anywhere on the map. Each day it isn’t discovered by another user, the value of its contents will increase, so make sure to find the best hiding spot!
Comrades is also getting a pretty beefy expansion, bringing in more bosses, raid bosses, and battle challenges. Surprisingly, Comrades will also be releasing as its own game this summer. So if you just want to buy Final Fantasy XV‘s multiplayer goodness, you’ll get a chance to do that later this year.
Most importantly, Square Enix announced a handful of new story DLC, saying its purpose is to
“realize a future everyone longed for.” This includes four new episodes focused on Ardyn, Aranae, Lunafreya, and Noctis. These three stories make up The Dawn of the Future, which will include an “alternate grand finale.” The creators of the game confirmed this won’t necessarily change the story, but it was meant for those who wanted to “challenge fate.”
A brand new song from Yoko Shimomura will accompany these four DLC episodes. Unlike the previously mentioned content,
The Dawn of the Future won’t release until 2019.
It’s great to see that
Final Fantasy XV is still getting support for the next couple of years. Which DLC are you most excited about? What are your hopes for the new ending? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
