Earlier today, IGN revealed that Lionhead Studios was developing a mobile card game based on the Fable series. Fable Fortune was well into development before Microsoft announced that they would be closing down Lionhead Studios last month. But now Lionhead veterans Craig Oman, Mike West, and Marcus Lynn have created a new studio called Flaming Fowl Studios and decided to put Fable Fortune on Kickstarter. Microsoft is allowing Flaming Fowl Studios to continue working on the game with the Fable license, but since the studio is now without a publisher, Kickstarter will be necessary to complete the project.

Flaming Fowl Studios hopes to raise £250,000 in four weeks, and stretch goals are planned if they reach their goal. For those of you who have played
Hearthstone before, Fable Fortune will be quite familiar to you. You get to choose from eight “deck-altering heroes” and reduce your opponent’s health to zero with an assortment of magic and other attacks. Fable Fortune will include various characters, lore, and jokes from Fable‘s history, as well as “completing mid-match “quests” like casting certain types of card or spending enough mana will allow you to make a good or evil choice, transforming your hero, their powers, and even morphing certain cards into new forms.” Former Lionhead dev Craig Oman thinks that Fable fans will definitely enjoy Fable Fortune.

“We’re definitely very keen to keep giving them new and interesting things. We have the ability to add new creatures and characters to this game and the world of Albion. I think we can certainly give them that Fable fix that they’ll be looking for.”
