In his latest column for Famitsu magazine, Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai addressed the process of developing multiple downloadable content products simultaneously. In the process of citing examples, he revealed that more non-character DLC is on the way for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, specifically new game modes and online features.

Sakurai provides some insight into the creative process of
Smash Bros. DLC:

“Given the different types of content we’re producing, it wouldn’t be surprising for the planning of one item to coincide with the development, balancing, and finalization of several others. We also have version updates, online features, and additional modes to worry about. It can be quite overwhelming, but it’s all about making players happy.” —

A previously released non-character
Smash Bros. DLC product is the Mii costume pack. Curiously, there has still been no mention of stage DLC, something many fans have been expecting. Are you excited to see new modes added to the game? Comment below.
