Geoff Keighley produced SpikeTV’s annual video game awards show for years, but in 2014 he broke away to start his own show. The Game Awards were a success in their inaugural year, and Keighley brought them back again last year. Going forward, it looks like The Game Awards will be expanded in 2016.
According to Variety, Keighley is partnering with DreamWorksTV to create a Kids’ Game Awards show that will debut in October. Keighley will produce the show (which is described as being similar to the Kids’ Choice Awards), and professional gamers, celebrities and musicians will present the awards. Activision, Nintendo, and Warner Bros. Interactive will all help out with the show as part of an advisory board.
