Yesterday, it was announced that Henry Cavill has been officially cast as Geralt in the upcoming Netflix adaptation of The Witcher. This reveal was met with pretty divisive feedback from fans, but there is a pretty big personality lending his support to this casting decision. Doug Cockle, the voice actor for Geralt in the games (as well as in the upcoming Soul Calibur VI), took to Twitter to endorse Cavill’s selection, saying that Cavill will do a great job as the supernatural monster hunter.
I’m personally excited to see what Cavill brings to the table. I’ve loved his past performances (especially his role in the recent
Mission: Impossible – Fallout) and am anxious to see how he makes Geralt his own. Unfortunately, it looks like it’ll be a little while before we’re able to find out. The Witcher isn’t scheduled to launch until at least 2020.
People keep asking… so… let me go on record saying I think that #HenryCavill will do a great job as #GeraltOfRivia ! He'll make it his own of course, as well he should, and I can't wait to see what @LHissrich and the whole @netflix team create. It's gonna be #Magic
