Shenmue III is now in its third month of development, and things are going smoothly for Ys Net. According to the latest update from Shenmue III‘s Kickstarter, Shenmue III‘s story and scenarios are out of the planning stage, and now the development team has entered the map testing phase. According to Ys Net, “Map testing will define the different areas to make sure they are neither too big, nor too small to get to that Goldilocks zone.” In addition to the new information regarding Shenmue III‘s development, the team has also released a batch of new screenshots that show off the game’s testing stage.

“All elements in the following screen shots are still in testing. Objects are being used as place holders, like the men in black suits, and Ryo is also an older model. Backgrounds and buildings are also still in the development stage and will see reworking. Shots for the two battle scenes were taken at angle to avoid spoilers as much as possible.”

The team also appears to be in high spirits, mentioning that the studio has become a “lively place,” even on Saturdays! If you have not donated to the Shenmue III project yet, you can still do so by clicking here.
