Earlier this year, Russian directors Nikita and Liliya Ordynskiy announced a short film based on the classic indie title Papers, Please. The first trailer for the film, starring actor Igor Savochkin, has just been released.

Papers, Please, often jokingly referred to as a “bureaucratic simulator,” is a game about a border patrol officer in a totalitarian state who is forced to make life-and-death decisions regarding immigrants who wish to enter the country. The upcoming film, also named Papers, Please, provides a deeper look into the life of this officer and the crushing responsibilities of his job.

You can watch the first trailer for the film above! The trailer is very short, but it captures the drab, impersonal character of the original game. The film will be in Russian with English subtitles, as it is being produced in Moscow.

What do you guys think? Are you excited for the film? Of course, this is only a short trailer, but what are your impressions so far? Let us know in the comments below!
