An amiibo is a plastic figurine featuring a posed Nintendo character that, when placed on the Wii U GamePad, can interact with certain games. The plastic sensation that’s sweeping the nation has already been confirmed to work with titles such as Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart 8.
According to Destructoid, when directly asked about Hyrule Warriors making use of amiibo, Nintendo responded with:
“Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be the first game to support amiibo. Other games that will support amiibo include Mario Kart 8, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Mario Party 10 and Yoshi’s Woolly World, with more to come.”
While not directly deconfirming the feature, its exclusion from their list is evidence enough that the NFC toys will not be supported, at least for the time being. Who knows; maybe they’ll release a compatibility update and I can finally have a proper Captain Falcon vs. Ganondorf battle!
Do you think this is a big loss to the game, or do you see no point in adding them in regardless? Let us know in the comments section!
