According to some recent discoveries by Pokémon GO fans, it seems like Niantic Labs is already working on bringing Generation III Pokémon to Pokémon GO. A recent post on The Silph Road, the largest Pokémon GO community on Reddit, shows that fans have been able to find new files for all 137 Generation III Pokémon by digging through the metadata of the newest Pokémon GO update, v0.71.0.
Of course, even though this data has been found, it’s no indicator that third-generation Pokémon are coming soon—these files are simply groundwork for future updates. While we can almost definitely expect to see the beloved creatures from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire added to the game at some point, it’s hard to know when that day will come.
In the meantime, however, these data mines have yielded some other interesting information on future Pokémon GO updates. As well as some simple bug fixes and graphics changes, Niantic seems to be planning to add a “Super Incubator” to the game, which will hatch eggs much faster than the existing incubator.
