Of the Big 3 in the video game console market, Nintendo is obviously the most family-friendly provider around. That being said, it does not mean the Big N is liable to shy away from games for older audiences. More violence and suggestive content could be on its way to the Nintendo Switch soon, according to multiple developers quoted in The Wall Street Journal.

“It was a surprise that the Nintendo we know so well allowed outside developers to release such games for the Switch.” — Kaori Nishioka, web designer

Nishioka references upcoming releases including Bethesda’s DOOM and Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon, which features scantily clad women in an action RPG.

“[Nintendo] was passive until now, but that is no longer the right word to describe its stance today.” — Anonymous executive

Games like Gal Gun 2, in which the player takes aim at young girls with pheromones, are also on the way to the Switch. This surprised developer Inti Creates.

“I thought it wouldn’t be possible to release such a game for the Switch, but surprisingly, Nintendo gave me positive feedback.” — Takuya Aizu, chief executive of Inti Creates

Are you surprised Nintendo is so keen on opening themselves up to the more mature gaming market? What M-rated games do you expect to see on the Switch in the future? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Hey all! I've been a gamer since I was three. I'm one of those people with gaming so ingrained in them that watching my father play Super Mario 64 is actually my first memory I can recall. I love writing too! I'm writing an original fantasy series that takes place in another universe; it may take some inspiration from some of my favorite franchises. I've been a journalist for a few years, have worked on local and national teams, and have garnered experience assigning stories, editing, writing, interviewing, hosting a television series, running a YouTube channel, and doing other stuff that's more fun to mention in conversation. Bios can drag on. Anyway, I'm super stoked to be a part of the Gamnesia team! Thanks for having me!
