As we make our way through the last few days of 2018, many around the world are reflecting on their favorite games from the past year. Earlier this month, numerous titles were honored at The Game Awards, and various publications have been posting similar awards lists since. Popular Japanese publication Famitsu took a slightly different angle for their end-of-the-year festivities. Instead of having their editors put together a list of awards, they polled Japanese developers to find out their favorite games.

In total, Famitsu spoke with 128 Japanese developers and general industry employees. The big winner turned out to be the new PlayStation 4 exclusive Spider-Man game from Insomniac and Marvel, followed by Monster Hunter: World and, perhaps somewhat surprisingly, Detroit: Become Human. In fact, four of the top five games were PlayStation 4 exclusives. Oddly enough, a handful of games from 2017 also made the list, including Splatoon 2 and Breath of the Wild.
