Though Nintendo isn’t planning on entering the world of virtual reality for a little while yet, that hasn’t stopped fans from trying to bring their favorite games to the platform. Recently, a group of Japanese researchers from Kougaku Navi have succeeded in creating a virtual reality experience for Splatoon. Their latest model (the third of its kind) features a Sony head-mounted display, a Splatoon-themed water gun, and a back-mounted GamePad. The GamePad transmits the gyroscopic movement to the headset, while the water gun wirelessly transmits your movement and shooting controls to the GamePad so they will register in-game. It’s certainly not an official adaptation, but it’s certainly neat and really shows off how Nintendo could bring virtual reality to their IP.
