There’s been an influx of video game movies in recent years, and it doesn’t look like it’s ending any time soon. One project that’s been in the works (seemingly going nowhere) for years is a live-action/CG adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog, and recently some real progress has been made on the film. James Marsden (best known for Teddy from Westworld and his time as Cyclops in X-Men) was recently announced as a star in the film, and now it seems a villain has been selected as well.
According to a new report from Deadline, Jim Carrey is currently negotiating to play the role of Dr. Robotnik, AKA Eggman, the main villain of the Sonic franchise. Can he pull off the role of round, mustachioed menace? We’ll likely find out next year, as the Sonic movie is currently slated to debut on November 15th, 2019.
