Those of you with a PS3 are almost certainly aware of Journey. What? You don’t know the record-breaking fastest selling game in the SCEA region on the Playstation Network? Well, go check it out. I’ll wait.
It’s good, right? Really good. The problem is, it bankrupted the company that made it. Game developer Jenova Chen admitted to Polygon the game had to be pushed back, and although it did make some money back, releasing the game solely on the PS3 definitely led to some difficulties recouping their costs.
ThatGameCompany is hopeful that their next game (the fourth made by the group) will be a success, however. It’s still in it’s earliest stages, but a studio job listing indicates they’re looking for new staffers who can help create a “full-scale online service” with hundreds of thousands of users; I don’t know about you, but I’m certainly excited to see what they cook up.
