Game Freak’s beloved Pokémon franchise has been going strong for over two decades now with dozens of popular games and millions of fans around the world. In addition to official games, the Pokémon community has come up with their own creations, and fan-made games like Pokémon Uranium Version and ROM hacks of existing Pokémon games like Pokémon Prism have proven to be immensely popular. Pokémon Producer Junichi Masuda recently weighed in on fan projects, and rather than discouraging them, he encouraged their creators to send in an application to Game Freak!

“Yes, of course, I see a lot of the—well, it’s hard to say an example, but I see a lot of people on Twitter [sending me] different takes [on Pokémon]. If I see that you are having fun creating things, or working on an art project…working on game development, we kind of share that feeling. In general terms, as creators we both have fun creating things, and at Game Freak we are always looking for skilled individuals, so please apply!”
— Junichi Masuda

Masuda delivered that line with a chuckle, so I wouldn’t get your hopes up too high, but if you’re a talented developer with a passion for Pokémon, you can send in an application by clicking here.
