Since Pokémon GO released, it has become a global phenomenon by getting millions of trainers out of their house on the great journey to catch ’em all. The popularity of the mobile app has caused many fans to wonder if it will connect with the upcoming Pokémon Sun and Moon games coming out later this year. Junichi Masuda of Game Freak has expressed that he would like to see some connectivity between the two titles, but only if they can make the games interesting.

Masuda explained that since Pokémon GO is about catching Pokémon found in the real world, it would be hard to determine how the different catch rates and appearance methods would affect the balance of each game. They probably mean that they don’t want players easily catching powerful Pokémon in Pokémon GO and then transferring them to the 3DS games. While it would be neat to see the two games interact with each other, Game Freak wants to find a way to do it that doesn’t make them boring and unbalanced.

What do you guys think? How could the wildly popular mobile game connect to the main series in an interesting way? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

Writing is half of my life. Video games make up the other half. I decided to put these two hobbies together and join Gamnesia back in 2015. I spend most of my time working at a retail store and paying off my student debt. When I'm not getting stressed about the thousands of dollars I owe my loan providers, I play tons of video games (which just puts me into more debt). I'm also currently writing a novel in what little spare time I have. It's a story I've been wanting to write for a while, but I don't want to talk about it until I have most of it completed. Any Gamnesia-related inquiries may be sent to [email protected] Feel free to follow my personal Twitter if you want (@Pindlo). I mostly just retweet things.
