Kojima Says He Won’t Be at The Game Awards

Geoff Keighley and Hideo Kojima have had a close relationship in recent years. The two teamed up for a series of teasers leading up to the reveal of The Phantom Pain, and Keighley would later present Kojima with the Industry Icon award. With Death Stranding now deep in development, many anticipated that Kojima would make another appearance at this year’s show, but it looks like that won’t be the case.

The famed developer tweeted out words of encouragement and support to Keighley today, and he added, “Sorry I couldn’t make this time!” Of course, it’s hard to trust anything Kojima says, given how many surprises he likes to spring on fans, but it’s unlikely that we’ll see him. That doesn’t completely rule out some kind of appearance by Death Stranding, but it certainly doesn’t help its chances.
