Earlier last week, we reported that Konami stated that they will no longer be developing AAA titles except for Pro Evolution Soccer. According to the community manager at Konami of Europe, Su-Yina Farmer, that does not appear to be the case. Farmer took to Twitter to dispel the rumors about Konami’s halt to AAA game development.

“I hope re-purposing speculation and rumour as news isn’t the new standard.”
— Su-Yina Farmer

In addition to Farmer’s response, a user on Reddit asked Konami’s customer support about the future of
Metal Gear Solid and got a similar response.

“I can promise you that we’re definitely not leaving Metal Gear behind or anything like that. I know some blogs were claiming that online this morning, but I’m not really sure where they’d be getting that from. We’re still definitely working on console games and franchises such as Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania, PES and all the rest.”
— Konami Customer Support Representative

Further evidence that Konami is not abandoning AAA game development can be seen on Konami’s Career opportunity page, as they’re currently looking for people with ”
experience in high-end game development” to work on the next Metal Gear game. It would be a tremendous shame to see these franchises fall by the wayside, so I’m happy to see them continue. Do you think that Konami should continue working on games like Metal Gear, Castlevania, and Silent Hill, or would you rather they be left alone? Sound off in the comments below!
