Nintendo unveiled a special edition New Nintendo 3DS XL themed after Majora’s Mask during the recent Nintendo Direct, but the console was completely sold out in-stores and online at GameStop within minutes. Some customers managed to order the handheld online, only to have their order fail to process. According to our friends at Zelda Informer (who experienced exactly that problem), those orders were processed, but GameStop’s payment system failed.
GameStop is apparently sending out emails to those affected, giving them a chance to pay for their preorder. However, those who do
not pay for the preorder by the end of Monday will not continue to have the handheld reserved. These extras will then go back into the system, meaning GameStop could have more available for preorder on Tuesday in a very limited capacity. So if you attempted to preorder the special New Nintendo 3DS and your order failed to process, you’ll want to check your email right away! If not, keep your eyes peeled on Tuesday to see if it becomes available again.
